  In 2008 the town of North Hempstead funded a paid technician on duty program as a test program. The purpose of this program is to supplement the volunteers during the day. The funding for this pilot program was only for a 2 year span. Since this program has been implemented it has been meet with a very positive and successful response. Mineola Volunteer Ambulance has a paid employee working Monday thru Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM and their primary duty is to make sure the ambulance is available and responds to calls in the village of Mineola.
